Review of Avène Cleanance Gel Cleanser:

Hello everyone! Today it’s a skincare day review, because we are going to talk about a great and affordable cleanser: Avène Cleanance Gel Cleanser.

Who is it for?

This soapless cleansing gel is perfect for those who have oily or acne prone skin and need an everyday cleanser that gently but effectively helps to purify your skin, while respecting its physiological pH. However, since this extremely gentle cleanser doesn’t contain harsh active ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, it works really well even on normal or dry skin, especially after a humid hot summer day.

What’s good about it?

I have been using the Avène Cleanance Gel Cleanser almost every day since I have bought it, nearly a month ago now. I especially love using this cleanser at the end of the day, as a second cleanser, after removing all my make up with a specific product like the amazing Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover (my review here) and the Camomile Cleansing Butter. However, this is also awesome as a first cleanser for your morning skincare routine.

The light consistency of this aquamarine gel becomes soft and soapy once you have massage it on your damp face. Then you can rinse it away with warm water. It’s really easy to use!

Avène Cleanance Gel can cleanse gently and effectively your face, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and balanced, but not dry or tight. It can even help calm sensitive skin!

This hypoallergenic and paraben-free gel is also fragrance-free. Plus, it contains Avène Thermal Spring Water, a great soothing ingredient; Cucurbita Pepo, a vegetal origin extract, which contributes to reduce the excess of sebum, and zinc gluconate, an amazing anti-inflammatory ingredient.

The packaging is also great and easy to use; the small opening on the top of the bottle can assure you that there will be no waste of product (in fact you will only need a small amount of gel to clean your entire face, so a little bit of it goes a long way).

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing, really. This is a very good and effective cleanser. Plus, the huge bottle of 300 ml. is, beyond doubt, a beauty bargain.

You can buy it in every store near you that sell Avène products or online here.

Final thoughts!

I really love skincare products, especially after my acne treatment that dried out my skin so badly that I needed to change my entirely skincare routine! So I really recommend this cleanser gel, to everyone actually, not only to those who have oily/acne-prone skin. It is a really great everyday cleanser, affordable and very effective.

Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II Serum by Estee Lauder:

Hello everyone! Today it’s the first skincare review of the year, yaaaay! 🙂 We are going to talk about the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II Serum by Estee Lauder.

Who is it for?

Everyone who needs a good serum to repair dry skin. It is also an amazing product to fight dull and uneven skin texture. Moreover, you can use this serum to attack first signs of aging and to achieve a smoother, more luminous, younger complexion.

What’s good about it?

I really love the consistency and texture of this serum. Its light gel/liquid formula absorbs nicely and fast, leaving your skin more luminous and more hydrated than before. It also dries quickly, when applied, without leaving behind a sticky feeling on your face.

I’ve been using Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum for the past three weeks, every other day through my night skincare routine; I use 4/5 drops and I gently smooth them on clean skin under my usual night moisturizing cream (you can also use it alone, but I prefer putting a good moisturizer under it to maximize the effect especially during winter months, when my skin tends to become very dry because of the cold weather).

When I wake up my skin feels smoother, hydrated and refreshed than before; it also looks radiant, even-toned and healthier.

On the box it says that this serum is recommended specifically for its anti aging properties, but I found out that Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum is an amazing product even for people who have oily or acne-prone skin, because it will help your acne scars and spots healing better, and it will keep your sensitive but problematic skin from drying out and becoming even more irritated.

What’s not so good about it?

Honestly nothing, this is a brilliant product to have in your kickass skincare arsenal, but it also is a luxury one, so it’s pricey. Because of the price, at first I tried a travel size bottle of this serum and when it was gone I noticed that it had became an important step of my skincare routine, so I knew I had to have the full size! I waited for several months and then, lucky me, I found it at a really good discount in a beauty shop in my city, so now I finally I have it! Yeahhh!!! On the bright side, I’ve found out that a little goes a long way, so a full size bottle will last you for several months and the product is so amazing that it is absolutely worth of your money!

Final thoughts!

What can I say? I love everything about this serum. Its fragrance free formula is suitable for all skin types, it also contains several good ingredients that can be beneficial to correct and repair many different skin problems (dryness, dullness, first sign of aging, uneven texture ecc.) The bottle is huge, and really easy to use thanks to a dropper applicator that is really helpful to prevent wasting too much product and to facilitate counting how many drops you will need to use every time. Moreover, like I said before, a little goes a long way, so a full size bottle will last you for several months!

Summer Favourites: A great and affordable BB Cream: SVR Sebiaclear BB Cream SPF 20

Hello everyone! 🙂 Today it’s a makeup/skincare day review and we are going to talk about a product that I really loved last Summer: SVR Sebiaclear BB Cream SPF 20.

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants a good, non greasy and affordable BB cream for unifying and mattifying oily and acne prone skin.

What’s good about it?

I have been using this BB cream since I have finished my acne treatment, so all these past hot and humid Summer months, and I really loved it. I don’t like to put a full coverage foundation on my skin through the Summer, because here in Italy the heat and humidity can be pretty brutal, so your pricey foundation will melt on your skin in a blink of an eye and you will resemble a dreadful kabuki mask. That said, during Spring and Summer months, I usually replace my foundation with a BB Cream; this year I have tried the new SVR Sebiaclear BB Cream SPF 20.

Its thick, creamy, but lightweight texture is perfect to slightly conceal your imperfections and evens out your complexion in a natural-looking way. This is also a great oil-absorbing product that helps to keep your nose, chin and forehead shine-free throughout the day (but if you need an extra shine control power, you can always use a good pressed powder like the amazing Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder, my review here).

Another amazing quality of this paraben and fragrance free product is that it contains a broad spectrum sun protection (SPF20), which protects your skin from UV damage and prevents marks caused by the sun.

Moreover, SVR Sebiaclear BB Cream SPF 20 contains a very effective skin-restoring ingredient: Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3. Niacinamide improves your skin texture and increases the skin’s barrier functions so that the skin can look and feel more healthy; it also can protect your skin against bacterial infections that can cause acne and blemishes.

Of the two colors offered, I can only speak for the Light shade since it’s the one that suits just about fine my complexion; it blends effortlessly into the skin, blurring pores and other imperfections and offering also a temporary shine control perfect for people with oily skin.

You can find it here.

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing really, this BB cream is an amazing product especially for people with oily or blemishes prone skin, plus it is really affordable! My only complaint is that it only comes in two shades

Final thoughts!

In the end, there’s a lot to love about SVR Sebiaclear BB Cream SPF 20 from its texture that feels great and blends effortlessly into the skin, blurring pores and other imperfections, to its ability to temporarily mattifying your oily skin. Bonus point, it is really affordable. So, I really recommend it!

Review of La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF 50+:

Hello everyone! 🙂 Today is a skincare review day, because we are going to talk about an amazing sunscreen product – La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF 50+! 🙂

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants an effective but lightweight SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sun protection for the face during the next sunny summer days. Also, if you have oily and/or acne prone skin this is the perfect product you have been looking for ages.

What’s good about it?

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that, 2 months ago, I have started a treatment for my acne prone skin; a prescribed treatment that includes an antibiotic and strong creams that make my skin more sensitive to the sun than normal. So, every day before going outside, I have to apply a high sun protection.

This product is great mostly because it has an almost invisible, lightweight texture but manages to give a brilliant sun protection. Moreover, the finish doesn’t leave the skin feeling slick or looking shiny, a particularly convenient feature for those who have oily skin or plan to apply foundation and/or other makeup with it.

About that, if you are going to use this product with makeup I would recommend to blend a pump or two of your foundation/BB Cream etc., with a pump of the LRP Anthelios XL on the palm of your hand; then apply the new silky mixture you have created on your face. So then you will have a tinted formula great for evening out your complexion, and also to protect skin from sunburn and cell damage from UV rays.

Every morning I used this as a last step in my skincare routine, with or without my favorite foundation or BB cream, at least 20 minutes before leaving the house (I also apply a spritz of Serozinc – my review  here– the ideal mist for topping up and fixing my makeup).

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF 50+ is a non-comedogenic product, and is suitable for even the most sensitive of skin because is made without fragrance and parabens.

You can find it here: UK IT US

Some extra tips about SPF and sunscreen products:

– UV (Ultraviolet) radiations are responsible for our suntan, but familiar effects of over-exposure are also sunburn along with higher risk of skin cancer. So, ALWAYS protect yourself from UV light.

– Sunscreen products should be repurchased new every year, since they degrade, and because of that they can’t be effective anymore.

Apply your SPF 15-20 minutes before you go in the sun. Moreover, sunscreen products are not waterproof, so, if you are going into the water or perspire heavily, you need to reapply them every 90 minutes at least.

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing really, La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF 50+ is, in my opinion, one of the best sunscreen products on the market right now!

Final thoughts!

I really love this product mostly because its creamy lightweight consistency dries down almost instantly for a mattifying effect with or without makeup. Moreover, its absorbent ingredients help hold back oily shine and endure hot/humid conditions. It’s also really affordable.

Ingredients:

Aqua / Water Diisopropyl Sebacate Alcohol Denat. Glycerin Dimethicone Isohexadecane Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane Octocrylene Silica Drometrizole Trisiloxane Isononyl Isononanoate Zea Mays Starch / Corn Starch C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer Ethylhexyl Triazone PEG-30 Dipolyhydroxystearate Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine Isododecane Phenoxyethanol Isopropyl Lauroyl Sarcosinate Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid Silica Silylate Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone PEG-8 Laurate Caprylyl Glycol Triethanolamine Disteardimonium Hectorite Tocopherol Disodium EDTA Dodecene Propylene Carbonate Poloxamer 407 Zinc Gluconate Perlite (Code F.I.L.: C162700/2)

Review of the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer:

Hello everyone! 🙂 Today it’s a “fusion” day review, because we are going to talk about the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. 😉

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants a lightweight, refreshing and fast absorbing primer/morning cream.

What’s good about it?

I’ve been using this primer for a couple months now, and I really love it! If you follow my blog from the very beginning you will know that I have oily/combo skin and some acne scars to soothe after a drying treatment; this primer really helps to cover the scars and the dry, red patches on my cheeks and nose.

Also, the Hangover Replenishing Face Primer has the texture of a fluid lotion that absorbs quickly doing a great job to provide a smooth canvas for makeup application, as well as helping your foundation stay longer.

The bonus point of this primer is that you can’t use it only for its sole purpose, but even as the last step in your skincare regimen instead of your usual morning cream. In fact, it contains coconut water and some coconut-derived ingredients that are great to add moisture to your skin and good alternatives to the other generally used emollients such as silicone and glycerin (this primer does have a light coconut scent, a really fresh and not overwhelming fragrance).

Also its slightly moisturizing formula seems to “protect” your skin from heavy make-up products that can tend to dry out e leave dry patches on your face if you wear it for too many hours.

On the skin Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer feels slightly moisturizing and sets to a lightly dewy finish, making it great especially for those with combo to normal skin.

Moreover, this primer really works (at least temporarily) to even your skin tone and, to a minor extent, fill in pores and fine lines.

According to Too Faced, Hangover is a revolutionary makeup primer infused with coconut water, probiotics and skin revivers that work together to boost skin’s radiance, promote elasticity and help hydrate while locking down makeup for fresher, longer and more flawless wear.

I can honestly say that this primer does exactly what it says it does, plus it’s vegan friendly and paraben free! 😉

What’s not so good about it?

I have to say that it’s pricey for a primer, but you don’t need to use too much of it (I generally use one and a half pump for my entire face), so a little bit goes a long way.

Final thoughts!

If you always had issues with silicone based primers this is the right product for you. Also, I’m very impressed with the qualities of the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer; my complexion has improved since using it and my skin looks more healthier than before. I really recommend this product!

Review of The Revitalizing Oil by Darphin:

Hello everyone! 🙂 Today it’s a skincare day review, so we are going to talk about The Revitalizing Oil for face, body, and hair by Darphin. 🙂
Who is it for?

Everyone who wants a multi-tasking and lightweight oil to revitalize, nourish, protect, reinforce and balance the delicate skin barrier of your face.

What’s good about it?

This is an amazing multi-tasking product, in fact you can use it on your face, your body and even on your hair! After using it, your hair will look immediately silkier and stronger with a gorgeous shine. Moreover, its pleasurable scent will help relieve the effect of stress with a welcomed dose of aromatherapy, leaving your body feeling pampered and relaxed inside and out. And, obviously, Revitalizing Oil is suitable for all skin types.

However, I prefer to use it primarily on my face because, thanks to its light and gentle texture, this oil is nourishing but not too rich, hydrating but not greasy and, bonus point, it absorbs instantly leaving no slickly residue behind, just a soft and smooth skin.

The Revitalizing Oil formula is 98% natural and its blend of over 9 essential oils, including sunflower seed, argan, jojoba seed, ylang-ylang and jasmine can help to protect, even out and revitalize your complexion. Moreover, Tamanu and Lavender oil are very good ingredients to balance, detoxify and prevent infections if you have oily, combination or even acne prone skin.

• How to use it: I generally use 3-5 drops for my whole face during my evening skincare routine. I work the oil into my palms then, using gentle pressing motions, I put it on the skin in upwards movements across my face and neck. I always followed by a light texture, moisturizing night cream. I would recommend to try to avoid rubbing the oil into your skin, plus it is better if you apply everything you need to use first (i.e. serum, toner, blemish treatments. etc…) then put it on your facial oil and finish with your favourite moisturizer.

Having oily, acne prone skin I’ve never been a huge fan of facial oils because I’ve always thought they were going to leave my skin super greasy, but now I’ve definitely changed my mind. After using The Revitalizing Oil every other day for almost a month my skin feels smoother, softer and more balanced than before. Also, when I apply it at night, the next morning my face looks radiant, silky and the redness patches are pretty much gone. So, now this oil is an essential part of my skincare regime!

If you will use it only on your face, a little would go a long way, making this product definitely worth of your money. Also, if you’re looking to try something from Darphin range without breaking your bank account, this is the best product!
– You can find it here or here.

What’s not so good about it?

The dispenser… Let’s talk about the dispenser.

I know that many of you will love it and think that it is more practical than a pipette, but for me no, it’s not! The problem is that, if you don’t pay enough attention, the product coming out of the dispenser will literally slip outside the bottle, then you’ll need to try to catch every drop of it with your fingers as if it was the last glob of your favourite jam! I personally would have preferred a pipette dispenser, so much easier to use.

Final thoughts!

In my opinion, this is a great oil that works very well to replenish moisture, give a more radiant and healthy complexion, reduce redness and balance the texture of your skin.

Review of the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care Moisturizer:

Hello everyone 🙂 today we are going to talk about La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care Moisturizer:

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants a very lightweight, non-oily moisturizer that will hydrate and soothe in a very simple way, leaving your skin with a smooth and soft feeling.

What’s good about it?

This great product has been specifically formulated for skin that’s oily or combination, but at the same time sensitive, allergic or prone to redness.

So, those with this skin type will appreciate in particular the lightweight consistency of this moisturizer, which offers just enough hydration for dry areas, yet absorbs quickly and perfectly into your skin without leaving a greasy and uncomfortable feeling.

I love to use it in my evening skincare routine (or even in the morning, during this cold winter days) after a chamomile base toner which will also help to reduce my redness and repair my acne scars.

So it’s an amazing product for combo/oily/prone-to-acne skins, because this moisturizer will give you just enough hydration for your “crazy” skin to layer over spot formulas, strong acne treatments creams or even to put on beneath your makeup.

According to La Roche-Posay official website: “… the formula has intense soothing and moisturizing powers and it is enriched with Glycerine, Shea Butter, La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water and Neurosensine, an active ingredient which targets coetaneous irritation mechanisms (…)”

Obviously it’s a non-comedogenic product. And it has 0% preservatives, parabens, fragrance, alcohol, colorant and lanolin.

What’s not so good about it?

Personally I don’t like the applicator, and the packaging. The product is dispensed from a pump-action bottle, that seems nice and convenient at first (and it really is when the container is full), but when you clearly see that you have a little amount of product stuck at the bottom of the plastic bag inside the bottle, right then the applicator will stop working. And believe me when I say that open the bottle to collect the last drops of fluid is a nightmare!

Final thoughts!

This is a great choice for people who don’t have a clue about how to moisturize their oily/combo/prone-to-acne skin and also affordable enough for teens looking for effective skincare. With daily use, you will begin to notice an improvement in skin sensitivity, redness and overall skin discomfort.

Review of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+]:

Hello everyone! 🙂 Finally, the weather here is back to a “normal” temperature during a North-Hemisphere-in-autumn season, so today I’m going to talk about one of my “to go” morning moisturizer: the one and only Effaclar Duo [+] by La Roche Posay. 😉

Who is it for?

Everyone who has combination, oily and/or acne prone skin.If you have very sensitive or dry skin I would recommend using it only on areas with breakouts and not all over your face.

What’s good about it?

This product is an all-over facial treatment that’s light, non-sticky and has no overpowering fragrance or unpleasant chemical smell. It will keep your skin adequately hydrated and fresh while diminishing the appearance of blemishes, unclogging blocked pores and controlling the skin oily shine during the day… so you won’t sparkle like a diamond! 😉

It will also help you balancing your combination/oily skin and preventing future breakouts.

The formula spreads easily but doesn’t “slip” across the skin and doesn’t dry out it either.

I prefer using it in the morning, after my cleansing routine, alone or under my makeup. However, you can apply it in the evening, after cleansing, and follow it with a moisturizer if your skin is prone to dryness.

The Niacinamide, an anti-inflammatory ingredient, intensely soothes and accelerates the skin’s repair process, while the Salicylic Acid exfoliate the surface of the skin. The old formula has also now been enhanced with a Ceramide that rebuilds the skin’s surface and prevents the red and brown pigmentation marks left behind by acne.

I have to say that I absolutely love the texture of this product, because if I apply it in the early morning by the evening it won’t feel heavy on my skin.

The La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+] it’s a non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic product built with a formulation that gives a long-lasting matte finish.

This isn’t a miracle product by any means, but I have seen a huge improvement to my skin since using it.

You can find it here [UK costumers]

or here [US Costumers] .

NOTE: the US product has different ingredients; it includes Benzoyl Peroxide that makes the formula a little more stronger than the European version.

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing, it’s a phenomenal moisturizing lotion for cold autumn/winter days! I would recommend not to use it during summer/spring hot humid days, because if you have oily/combination skin your makeup will melt down in a blink of an eye!

Final thoughts!

If you’re on the constant battle to fight oily/acne prone skin then this product could be a nice one to try and it won’t break your bank account! This is a very great moisturizing lotion to start your journey to clear your skin, along with a good cleanser.

What’s inside?

Ciao a tutti!

Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder review:

Hello everyone! 🙂 Today I think we can go back to the usual makeup/skincare review. Now it’s nearly September and I love the fizzy autumn air because you can get from point A to point B without having your makeup sweat into oblivion! 😉

Hence today I’m going to talk about my lovely setting “powder of the moment”, so to speak!

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants a pressed powder that can be used alone or to set your makeup (concealer, BB cream or foundation). It’s especially great for combination, oily and/or acne prone skin. Also, if you like a sheer, natural coverage this is the product for you.

What’s good about it?

The Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder is a great every day talc-based powder with a slightly dry and sheer finish. It comes in various shades and there are some good options for almost every skin tones. Its formula, according to the Clinique website, is shine-absorbing and oil-free; the powder will also give you an ultra-sheer texture and the skin will be perfected with a matte appearance. You can apply the product with a powder brush or with the included sponge applicator.

I have oily/acne prone skin and this is the only product that keeps my makeup nice all day, even after frequent touch-ups. Its weightless setting texture seems to literally freeze time: last year, over the course of a long day at school, my makeup stayed exactly the same as it had been when I left my house in the early morning. I must say that I was very impressed, being that the first time I used it. Prior to this product, I tried several powders from other brands, but I think that this from Clinique might just be the perfect one for me in terms of longevity (I have just bought my second box in the past 6 months).

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing really, but the sponge applicator that you can find inside the box is not so great. I would suggest to wash it every evening with some soap and water and leave it dry completely out of the box for the whole night, then the next morning you can use it again!

Final thoughts!

I would recommend the Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder to every girl with combination/oily skin. Moreover, this amazing product will give you a great medium, but also natural coverage, so the person sitting next to you won’t be able to tell that you have your “heavy” foundation on! I have to say that this is a “must have”, at least for me.

You can buy it here [US Costumers] or here [UK Costumers].

Ciao a tutti!

Review of La Roche-Posay Effaclar H cleansing mousse:

Hello everyone! Today it’s a skincare day review, because you know… makeup is beautiful, but sometimes you have to wash your face… ehhhhh ;)So, back to the point, I’m going to talk about the La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Cleansing Mousse.

Little premise as always: right now I have very “grumpy” and irritated skin with pimples and blemishes.

Who is it for?

This mousse is a gentle but very effective cleanser for oily, combination and sensitive skin. It is also ideal for acne prone skin feeling weakened by strong treatments and drying skincare products.

What’s good about it?

Although it says it removes makeup, this is a second stage cleanser for me.
It is particularly great as a morning cleanser because it leaves your skin feeling very clean and balanced. Plus, this mousse formula has a lovely soft creamy texture!

I bought it in a pharmacy in my city 2 weeks ago and since then I’ve used it every single morning.

I can say that what I like most about this cleanser is that it does remove excess oil but my dry patches don’t become more dry or irritated.

Also, when you will start to use this your redness skin will soothe day by day.

Used this before the Aloebase Sensitive Gel by Bioearth (my review here) and you will have a perfect combo for fighting blemishes, acne prone and redness skin.

Effaclar H Cleansing Mousse is fragrance free, not comedogenic, paraben-free, and has La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water in it.

You can find it here or in any pharmacy that sells La Roche-Posay products.

What’s not so good about it?

Nothing, really, but this is not a miracle product, it’s just a very good affordable cleanser.

Final thoughts!

Highly recommended if you have been through some strong acne treatments, have used too much drying skincare or you have rosacea.

Ciao a tutti!
